TRAVIS THORNE
VP Of Family
Travis Thorne serves as Vice President of Family at the Georgia Center for Opportunity, where he leads family-focused initiatives designed to strengthen parents, support children, and help families build pathways toward lasting opportunity. His work is grounded in the conviction that strong families are essential to human flourishing and community transformation.
A Georgia native, Travis grew up in Jonesboro, Georgia, and brings both personal and professional commitment to serving families across the state. He earned a Business degree from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, with a minor in Religion. While a student at Emory, Travis was highly involved on campus through his fraternity and the Gospel Choir, experiences that helped shape his leadership, faith, and commitment to community.
Travis brings more than 20 years of professional experience in consultative sales, leadership, and relationship management, including roles at First Data/Fiserv, IBM, and HSBC. Throughout his corporate career, he built trusted partnerships, led complex initiatives, and delivered results in highly regulated and performance-driven environments—experience that now informs his strategic and operational approach to family-centered work.
Alongside his professional career, Travis has spent many years serving in ministry, with a focus on family small groups and men’s small groups, helping men and families grow in the areas of money, marriage, and legacy. His ministry work has centered on creating relational environments where individuals are equipped to take responsibility, strengthen their households, and build foundations that endure across generations.
At GCO, Travis focuses on empowering parents as the primary leaders in their children’s lives. He collaborates with faith-based and community partners to develop relational, practical, and scalable programs, with particular emphasis on serving families connected to Title I schools and underserved communities.
Travis has been married for more than 20 years and is the proud father of two sons and one daughter. Outside of his professional and ministry work, he enjoys sports, reading, coaching, and staying active—interests that continue to fuel his passion for mentoring, leadership, and family life.
