STRONGER FAMILIES CREATE THRIVING COMMUNITIES

FAMILY

At GCO, our work is rooted in the belief that human flourishing is measured not only by material well-being, but also by the sense of purpose and belonging that we’re all wired for. We are most likely to live meaningful, self-sufficient lives when we believe that we have inherent value as human beings and that our choices and actions matter to those around us.

The first and most influential place we learn this? Our family.

When families are strong and healthy, other building blocks for vibrant communities fall into place—public safety, better education options and outcomes for kids, and higher rates of employment and job opportunities.

That’s why we work to address policy and community-level barriers that make it hard for people to form stable families and experience the fulfillment and opportunities for upward mobility that start with strong families.

Community Programs

Raising Highly Capable Kids

The trajectory of a child’s life starts with a single relationship: the bond with their parents.

Research has shown that when parents are involved in children’s education and development, children tend to have more motivation and success in school, fewer behavioral issues, and better social skills. Studies have also revealed that healthy relationships between parents and children are linked to greater happiness, less depression and drug use, and increased likelihood of those children contributing to their communities as adults.

That’s why we partner with local organizations to bring Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK) into neighborhoods across Georgia. Through this evidence-based program, families find tools, confidence, and support to raise healthy, responsible, and caring kids.
