Raising Highly Capable Kids

Empowering Parents. Strengthening Families.

Strong families are the foundation of thriving communities. That’s why we partner with local organizations to bring Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK) into neighborhoods across Georgia. Through this evidence-based program, families find tools, confidence, and support to raise healthy, responsible, and caring kids.

What is Raising Highly Capable Kids?

About the Program

Raising Highly Capable Kids is an evidence-based, 10-session parenting program rooted in the 40 Developmental Assets—proven building blocks every child needs to grow into a confident, caring, and capable adult.

But RHCK is more than a workshop—it’s a connection point. It brings parents together, strengthens community ties, and helps families build lasting foundations of trust, hope, and resilience.

What RHCK Looks Like in Communities

Raising Highly Capable Kids is brought to life through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, churches, and community organizations that know and love their neighborhoods. Together with the Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO), these partners help deliver the program in ways that reflect each community’s unique culture, strengths, and needs.

Workshops are offered each fall and spring, meeting in person for 10 weekly sessions. Led by compassionate, well-trained facilitators, each session provides a safe space for learning, sharing, and growing. The experience wraps up with a joyful graduation celebration to honor families’ commitment and growth along the journey.

FAQs

What is Raising Highly Capable Kids?

Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK) is an evidence-based workshop series designed to empower parents and caregivers with practical tools, strategies, and confidence to support their children’s healthy development. Grounded in the 40 Developmental Assets framework developed by the Search Institute, RHCK focuses on building the essential internal strengths and external supports that children and youth need to thrive—academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.

Who can participate?

Raising Highly Capable Kids is open to all parents, guardians, and caregivers who want to strengthen their parenting skills and support their children’s growth and success. We welcome participants from all family structures, cultures, and communities. The more diverse the group, the richer the experience!

How can RHCK benefit my family?

Through Raising Highly Capable Kids, you’ll gain powerful, practical tools to guide your child’s development and strengthen your family from the inside out. This workshop doesn’t just teach parenting tips—it transforms the way you connect with your kids. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of what children need to thrive, stronger communication at home, and the confidence to lead your family with purpose. Many parents say it’s one of the most encouraging and impactful experiences they’ve had.

Internal assets include commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies, and positive identity.
