Our Impact in 2025

Raising Highly Capable Kids participants in February 2025

Hundreds of Georgia parents gained the tools to raise resilient children.

In 2025, we joined forces with 13 community partners, including 6 Title I schools, to expand our Raising Highly Capable Kids program to hundreds of at-risk parents. Through the program, they learned the building blocks of raising responsible kids who are on a path to healthy, self-sufficient lives of their own.

“One of the greatest time investments I’ve made this year was taking Raising Highly Capable Kids. I can’t recommend it enough. We don’t have to do this alone. Life is better as a community. Raising highly capable kids begins with becoming a highly capable parent—one who models integrity, emotional maturity, and consistency. This class has equipped me with valuable tools, structure, and a deeper self-awareness that help me create a safe, supportive environment where my children can grow in confidence and character.” — Tiffany Singleton, RHCK program participant

The Georgia Promise Scholarship helps students in low-performing public schools access education options for their needs.

8,600 students (so far) have access to new education opportunities through the Georgia Promise Scholarship.

In March, the Georgia Promise Scholarship officially opened for Georgia families, creating an educational lifeline for students in the lowest-performing public schools. Thanks in part to GCO’s marketing efforts, thousands of families have been accepted into the program so far.

“Promise Scholarships empower parents to do what they think is best for their children, whether it’s a family like mine that requires flexibility for a unique circumstance…or a family that simply chooses a private school option. Our tax dollars should follow the child and meet the individual needs.” — Molly Gareau, West Cobb parent

Over 400 job-seekers are rediscovering their potential through meaningful work.

In collaboration with our network of over 100 employer and nonprofit partners, our BETTER WORK program has helped a record number of job-seekers find local work opportunities and resources to overcome barriers to work.

“I will remember how positive, encouraging, and uplifting being a part of BETTER WORK was. How the provisions were made to make sure we are equipped for the job-hunting, interviewing life. I feel much more confident as a person and a job-seeker. I feel stronger mentally because I’ve had great information given to me and stronger emotionally because I’ve had prayers and support from the champions and facilitators.” — Monica, BETTER WORK Participant

The Meant For More Summit prepares state and federal leaders for historic welfare reforms.

Leaders in Georgia and across the country are getting tools to build safety net systems that truly lift people out of poverty.

As states face new federal rules for SNAP and Medicaid, GCO is on the forefront of helping leaders prepare. Our safety net reform summit in D.C. brought together 150 leaders from 22 states—lawmakers, agency leaders, nonprofits, researchers, and partners from across the country. Together we discussed how we can move from a program-centric safety net to one that’s truly human-centered and helps more people find lasting opportunity and self-sufficiency.

We’ve also driven the media conversation on welfare reform, reaching over 10 million people through 25 placements in state and national outlets.

“When we align our work around human dignity and real outcomes, coordination [in the safety net system] becomes more than structure. It becomes service. Grateful for the chance to share this conversation and for everyone working to create pathways that help people move forward with clarity, stability, and opportunity.” Aly Rau Brodsky, former Deputy Secretary, Louisiana Works and Department of Children and Family Services
