KIMBERLY SAWATKA
Communications Manager, Contractor
It is a honor to be part of the dedicated team at GCO. Their passion to make Georgia a better place for all is infectious, and I’m humbled to be able to give back to my community.
Kimberly has been the communications consultant for Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO) since fall of 2015. She leads the efforts responsible for developing communication strategies that help further GCO’s mission and vision, as well as those that will create a broad impact throughout Georgia by sharing effective ideas and practices. Some of the strategies include brand management, social media, media outreach, partnering with allied organizations and publication design.
Kimberly started her career on the political campaign trail but later moved into corporate communications, working for Fortune 500 companies like Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC and The Hartford. She further polished her communication skills at one of Nashville’s public relations firms before coming full circle to take a position in the political arena working with the American Federation for Children as Tennessee’s communications manager.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Belmont University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbus State University.
As a Columbus, Georgia native, Kimberly has always served the community in a variety of volunteer roles and remains dedicated to empower Georgians with more opportunities for success.
