BETTER WORK Volunteer Opportunities
Use your time and talents to support job seekers through event support, facilitating sessions, serving as a mentor or skills coach, and more.
Why Volunteer
As a BETTER WORK volunteer, you serve a vital role in the lives of those in our community who want to improve their work opportunities. Our programming is only successful when offered in community with others. Volunteers walk with participants as they grow their skills and examine the behaviors that have impacted their life’s journey. Every class is a beautiful learning experience and an opportunity for self-improvement for both participants and volunteers
-
Make a direct impact (empower individuals toward confidence and purpose)
-
Flexible ways to serve (multiple volunteer roles available)
-
Training to set you up for success (tools, resources, and free training)
Choose Your Role
We are looking for dedicated volunteers to fill two vital roles: Classroom Facilitators and Champions. Facilitators guide the classroom activities and discussion to maximize learning. Champions provide coaching, friendship, encouragement, and a strong sense of community to help participants overcome employment barriers and finish the course.
Whatever your role, you can give encouragement during lessons and provide the real-world guidance needed to succeed both inside the classroom and on the job.
Pick the option that best fits your schedule and strengths.

Volunteering as a Jobs for Life champion has been one of the most rewarding life experiences I’ve ever had. I have learned so much about people and about what it means to meet someone where they are. I feel joy every time a student makes progress. I am in awe at the real growth that happens in this program and the ripple effects that will surely happen in our community and for generations to come. It feels good to be a part of something so good and so effective.
Nancy
As a Jobs for Life facilitator, I’ve had the privilege of working with participants to help them develop essential work readiness skills. I believe in lifting as I climb, and this opportunity has allowed me to give back in a meaningful way, empowering others to achieve their goals while fostering personal growth.

Working with BETTER WORK benefits me personally because investing in people is a blessing. To see lights come on in their eyes as we talk about real life experiences—and how their lives can be better—impacts my life as well. And we learn from each other as we’re shaping skills and sharing experiences of life together.
Debbie
Volunteering with Jobs for Life gave me a purpose. I love it because you’re able to see how people come in suppressed, and they have no hope. And by the time they finish the class, they’re like superheroes. They’re so proud of themselves. They get jobs and they feel fulfilled—like they’re living again.
Mimi
Volunteering is worth the investment because it’s a way that we can give back. Wherever we are in life, no matter how much we have, we do have the capacity to help some others who may not have had as much as we do. Working directly with individuals who may not have the skills or the confidence yet to be able to succeed in the workforce was a way I felt like I could make an impact.
