About Us

Removing barriers to opportunity in Georgia, one community at a time

Our Vision

Vibrant communities where everyone can achieve their potential.

Our Mission

We advance solutions that increase opportunity and create durable pathways to prosperity for Georgia’s families.

The Heart of Our Purpose

We believe that when parents achieve stable employment and strong family relationships, they are better able to create environments where their family can flourish today and for years to come.

We combine policy reforms, community programs, and local partnerships to create better opportunities for family stability, economic mobility, and child well-being so that low-income families can break the cycle of poverty.

  • Through research and coalition-building, we advance policy solutions that improve social and economic mobility at the state and national level.

  • We develop replicable, on-the-ground programs that equip communities to provide the building blocks of family flourishing—support for parents, access to work, and a network of local resources and relationships to help families navigate everyday barriers to opportunity.

  • We build partnerships because addressing poverty isn’t a solo endeavor. It requires cooperation from people who can meet the needs of underserved communities where it matters most—in homes and neighborhoods.

Overview of Our Initiatives

BETTER WORK

BETTER WORK is a community-focused, partnership-based program that helps the chronically unemployed and underemployed find local opportunities for family-sustaining work.

Our Goal: Connect parents to career pathways, employers, and local resources so they can find dignity, purpose, and steady employment.

Raising Highly Capable Kids

RHCK is a 10-week workshop that empowers parents to teach their children the habits, relational skills, and sense of responsibility that lead to bright, self-sufficient futures. We partner with Title 1 schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations to reach parents most in need.

Our Goal: Transform parent-child relationships to unlock long-term family stability and reduce generational poverty.

Safety Net Reform

Through our Alliance for Opportunity initiative, we work simultaneously at the federal and state levels to tackle the fundamental design flaws in the welfare system that no one else addresses: the disconnect between workforce and safety net systems, the benefits cliffs that punish parents for earning more, and the marriage penalties that discourage family formation.

Our Goal: Create a more humane system that recognizes work and relationships are just as essential for escaping poverty as financial support.

Georgia Policy Reform

We provide lawmakers with policy solutions to reduce crime, strengthen Georgia’s workforce, and improve educational outcomes and opportunities for low-income students.

Our Goal: Expand access to security, quality education, good jobs, and upward mobility in the places where families live their everyday lives.

Our 2025 Impact

We believe what happens in homes and communities is most important and most consequential to the outcomes of each person’s life, and this belief is reflected in our policy priorities and community programs.
