Rebecca Primis

Rebecca Primis is the Vice President of Communications for the Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO). She leads the organization’s communications strategy to connect donors, community partners, policymakers, and concerned citizens to GCO’s solutions for creating durable paths out of poverty. As manager of the day-to-day operations of GCO’s Communications Team, Rebecca oversees content strategy, media relations, and marketing campaigns for specific programs and policy initiatives.

Rebecca specializes in nonprofit brand strategy and messaging. She is passionate about helping organizations develop branding and content approaches that clarify their mission, demonstrate their unique value in the marketplace, and highlight their impact. Rebecca enjoys building partnerships and workflows across departments to tailor communications for specific goals and target audiences. She has cultivated a particular emphasis on donor communications, enabling GCO to increase contributions and donor retention through direct mail, email, and digital advertising.

Before joining GCO, Rebecca was the Senior Director of Communications at the State Policy Network (SPN), where she scaled marketing operations, managed a team of marketing and media professionals, and led branding initiatives for SPN’s yearly conference. Under Rebecca’s leadership, this signature event grew to over 1,400 annual attendees and achieved record-breaking sponsorship revenues. As the Communications Manager in her earlier years at SPN, she built the organization’s first content marketing program.

Rebecca holds bachelor’s degrees in English and economics from Berry College and a certification in user experience design from General Assembly.

Rebecca and her husband live in Tacoma, Washington. Outside of work, she leads the music program at her church and enjoys running, reading, and cooking.

Rebecca is drawn to GCO’s mission because she believes institutions and policies should empower everyone to build meaningful, prosperous lives, not make it harder for them to do so.
