Jody Wirtz

As Director of External Affairs, Jody Wirtz works with individual donors, civic organizations, and corporate partners to grow the Georgia Center for Opportunity’s (GCO) family of friends and supporters and to raise awareness in the community.

Prior to joining GCO, Jody was a commercial banker in metro Atlanta for over 30 years. In this role, he developed and managed relationships with entrepreneurs, real estate investors, business owners and their key staff, and high net worth individuals. Jody worked for banks of various sizes and offered financial solutions to a variety of different industries. He has a deep understanding of financial management, reporting, and budgeting. He has collaborated with partners, board members, and regulators, and he has managed teams through multiple mergers and acquisitions.

Jody received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Wofford College in South Carolina. He and his wife, Dorie, have been married for 30 years and have one son, Ryan. 

Jody enjoys volunteering for various organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, the Dunwoody United Methodist Church, the Dunwoody Nature Center, Furkids, and the Community Assistance Center.

Jody is inspired by witnessing GCO’s impact in strengthening communities, and by being surrounded by such an amazing team.
